She’s bringing sexy back…

No, No, No I am not!!!  However, an area I’ve really wanted to focus on in the gym has been my back.

My new favorite exercise is single arm assisted pull ups!

Pull ups in general work many different muscle groups in the back, shoulders and arms. But why not kick it up a notch and target these muscles unilaterally for a little more burn!

Sometimes you have to switch up your routine at the gym!

I still have work to do and I will try to work on using less assistance from the machine as I continue to get stronger!

Soccer season…

So this post is late but I just finished playing soccer 2 hours ago and cant sleep.

I’m  super excited for outdoor season I have been playing indoor on 3 different teams.

First game of the season and we won 4-0!!

I kind of like running and i really like it for t-shirts  and medals but I truly enjoy playing team sports.
Basketball  and soccer have always been two of my favorite sports I’ve played.

Working together as a team to win games is fun for me. A bunch of people of all age groups ( last season I questioned if I needed to start playing over 30) comming togethr to accomplish one goal. Get that W!!

Playing socver helps me stay active. I’m  commited to the team so I will make aure to show up to the games and play. I can talk myself out of an early morning run or going to the gym after work.

Yay to outdoor soccer season!!

Weekend Craziness

This week will start week 4 into my Sprint Tri training. My training is going fairly well including the swimming.  However,  my weakness is my diet and mostly the weekends.

I’ve gotten into a groove with workouts during the week. But it is s struggle on the weekend besides my soccer games.

Come Friday I want to get home after work and kick my feet up.  I don’t want to kick and haven’t meal prepped lately so fast food it is. Lately it hasn’t been healthy choices either.

I need to get it together.  I plan to meal prep today so I can start week 4 with a bang!

I know what to do now I just have to do it.

Follow us on social media and I will update worth my prep.

Buffalo Chicken- Blue Cheese Meat Loaf

This is one of my favorite recipies that is an alternative to buffalo wings. The recipe is from The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook

This makes 4 servings
Ingredients:

Olive oil spray

2/3 cup old fashioned oats

1/2 cup fat free milk

2 1/2 tablesppons buffalo wing sauce ( Franks is my favorite)

1 Lb extra lean ground chicken breast

1/2 cup finely chopped celery

1/4 cup shredded carrot

1/4 cup finely chopped sweet onion

2 large wgg whites, lightly beaten

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup crumbled reduced fat blue cheese

Directions:

Preheat  oven to 350°. Use olive oil spray to greese loaf pan.

Combine oats and milk and stir. Let mixture stand for 3 min or until oats begin to soften. Stir in the wing sauce. Add chicken, celery, carrots, onion, egg whites and salt. Get your clean hands dirty and mix these ingredients! Add blue cheese and mix.

Place into the loaf pan and bake 30-40 minutes!

Olympic life lessons

I love the Olympics! There is something about all these countries coming together with their best of the best to compete against each other.

While I love watching and cheering I’m amazed at the little life lessons that can be taken away from the Olympics.

Last night Simone Biles performed her individual beam routine. She almost fell of the 4″ beam but caught herself. While she did not take home another gold she still took home the bronze medal.

While life can be tough we must still celebrate the small victories. Many other gymnast would have fallen off the beam but she was able to catch herself.

What may have taken out others in this life  you have been through something and were able to “cath” yourself!!!!

History is being made throughout  these Olympics.

Simone Manuel made history becoming the first  African American female to win.

What blows my mind is 63 years ago a vegas hotel drained an antire pool because Dorothy Dandridge an African American actress  put he toe in it.

While, I am no way near being an Olympic caliber athlete I am inspired by so many of these athletes competing.

The refugee  team, the USA 800m runner who was flipping burgers at Mcdonalds and just ran in the Olympic finals. Just amazing!

What I do know is that you must keep going! Give your all and finish this “race” of life. Who knows who you might be inspiring!

Back 2 School

So today officially marks the end of the summer! It is the 1st day of school, which means a very early wake up call to get myself and the littles ready for the day.I am actually excited about being back on a regular schedule because things can get hectic during the summer months. I definitely have a routine for the morning which goes a little something like this…
4:45am Wake Up & drink a cup of water

5-5:30am Workout (it may be a run or a yoga sequence or a HIIT workout)

5:30-6am Get dressed grab something to eat and my cup of coffee

6-6:15am Put all my things and the littles in the car.

6:15-7 Dress the littles (this takes longer as we are potty training?

7:00am Leave for work!

I will admit and full workout doesn’t happen every morning, but I do at least try to get in a stretching sequence to get the blood flow going and that extra boost for the day!

We have the Hottest Half 10k on Sunday and the forecast is calling for rain! Which is great because that’s when Rachelle and I run best!

What is your morning routine?
