Im so grateful to family, friends and coworkers who have been pushing me lately.

I’m  a little less than a month away from this sprint tri and my nerves are starting to get to me.

The one thing that has been consistant is the support from family, friends and coworkers.

Going to the pool after work to swim with me when they could easly go home to spend time with family.

The text and calls from friends and family holding me accountable for my workouts.  Even when it makes me a little bit irritated!

Thanks to everyone for the support and pushing me through to reach this goal of mine!

Surround yourself with people who push and support your goals and dreams this is vital to your success.

When life gets you down they will be there to pick you up!

Time to Get Out of the Rut!

So I will be the first to admit my fitness has gone out of the window since the school year has begun. Not making any excuses I need to put my goals right up there with making sure everyone in my family is taken care of!

Monday-Friday work week; up at 5am home around 6pm, homework, cook/feed the family, help with homework, get my work done, prepare for the next day, get the twins bathed in bed, late Friday night football games and early Saturday morning volleyball games! That schedule makes it hard to squeeze in time for myself, but excuses have to go out the window NOW! The Disney Princess Half Marathon is 5 months away and this mama needs to get ready!

So sorry family it’s MOMMY TIME! Time to make sure I take better care of myself. I am so disappointed in myself for falling off the fitness train, but as I stated before NO MORE EXCUSES. I START TODAY! Lifestyle change!

I Miss You…

Dear Gym,

I miss you!

I have been in a funk. I have not made it to the gym consistently for over 1.5 months.

Yes I’m staying active on 5 soccer teams and training for this sprint triathlon. But I miss the gym.

My gym buddy/ accountability partner had a busy school schedule and then moved away to NY.

Ahhh I have to do better. I have to get back to reaching my goals.

Don’t  give up and keep chasing greatness!

Whew, I’m  tired.

Started my day off with an indoor soccer game where we had no female subs.

Tri training called for 10 mile bike followed by 2 mile run.

I haven’t  been keeping up with tri training this past week because I’ve had a lot of soccer games.

I promised myself I would do the brick today. I was worried because a few years ago a went for a bike ride with a friend around White Rock Lake then tried to run and my legs were a no go.

So I was pleasantly surprised today that I was able to complete it.
I have an outdoor game in a fews hours. HAHA what was I thinking today?

My two biggest fans are right there with me!

Foodie Friday: Taco Soup

I love football and fall! It means cooler weather and times call for chili and soups! Here is one of my favorite football season meals!!

1 Lb ground turkey or hamburger

1 cup diced onions

1 (15.5 oz) can Ranch Style  beans

1 (15 oz) can corn

1 (15 oz) can Rotel

1 package taco seasoning

1 package ranch dressing mix

Corn chips

Sour cream

Shredded cheese

Brown the ground turkey and onions in a large skillet. Add ranch dressing mix and taco seasoning to mixture. In large pan combine beans, corn and rotel and let it cook for 5 minutes. Add ground turkey mixture and let simmer over low 15 minutes.

To serve, place corn chips in bowl and ladel soup over chips. Top with sour cream and cheese!

Lazy girl…

I have those days when I do not feel like doing anything. But feel like if I could get a workout in I could get out of my funk.

Its funny that people say you want what you don’t  have and I’m realizing that more in more.

Yes I’m  single with no kids so I “should” have all this freedom to do what I want and a crazy amount of energy. However, I don’t  find that to be the case.

Coming home from a hard day at work sometimes all I want to do is curl up in the bed. While, not having children does give me the luxury to do this  I do know I need to get a workout in.

My favorite lazy girl workout requires a jump rope,  me, and a stop watch.

The first time I did this workout I thought it would be a breeze but it was tough for me!

Sometimes I need a quick and tough sweat session to get me out of my funk!

Time Well Spent

The last two weeks have been very stressful for myself and my family. My mother had emergency bypass surgery after going into the hospital complaining about shortness of breath. My uncle had scheduled bypass surgery and two other loved ones lost family members unexpectedly.

Times like this make you sit and think about all the important people in your life, and the amount of time you do or don’t get to spend with them. When I received the call about my mother I got on a plane to Indy immediately and was able to spend the week with family and realize how much I miss seeing that side.
Taking the time to spend quality time with family and friends is so important for your mental health. I had a wonderful birthday dinner with my friends that are more like sisters last night!

Quality time with those you love is soooooo important! Take the time to spend time with those you love, your body will thank you!

Week 6

Half way!!!!!

I’m  six weeks into my sprint triathlon training. I must say there has been lots of frustration and sometimes a lack of motivation.

Swimming is still my biggest frustration but I think I have a better mental outlook on it now!

I’m  not going to swim 300m non stop. Yes, this was my intial thought and I now realize I was crazy. I just keep telling myself take it 50m at a time.

I am not as worried about the biking and the running. Now, doing all three back to back is a different story but I will start incorporating bricks into my training soon.
I can do this! I just need to finish.
