What Was I Thinking?

Obviously by now you have realized I am a sucker for medals and t-shirts.

The Disney Princess half marathon is 34 days away.. Eeeek

Let me just be 100% honest. I have not ran since Dec. 4 outside of soccer.

I know, I know… I was going to train but it was cold and I HATE the treadmill. 

While Erica and I have been reading about Run Disney and what to expect  we came across an article talking about don’t plan to PR and enjoy the experience.

I think that was all we needed seeing as training has been little to none. 

I also realized following the Dallas Rock and Roll last year I signed up for it again.

How cool is this medal? Guess I need to start running.

This is sad. But hey, I will cross these finish lines. Run, walk, crawl I will get my medal!

Fitmas!!!

We have officially made it through Christmas!!

One of ny favorite  gifts I recieved was from my brother and is an addition to my home gym.

My brother got me a TRX suspension trainer!

I had given my brother one about 3 years ago and it has always peeked my interest since then.

So grateful to have a brother that encourages me on my fitness journey.

I’m  so excited for the versatility of the TRX and all my workouts to come!

The struggle is real

Just in case you did not know Christmas is 3 days away.

I will be honest and admit this past month I have struggled with eating healthy and working out.

Yes, I’m  “training” for the half marathan. But I say “training” because one run doesn’t really count as training. 

Besides soccer I have been consistant with a little bathroom workout I do while the water gets warm.

20 squats and 20 dips on the side of the tub and repeat 3 times at least or until the water is warm.

At home circuits are quick and easy around busy times.


The struggle is real and I need to do better.

12 Weeks Until Disney

Whoa!!!! I feel like just a few weeks ago we were talking about registering for this race.

I’m  excited for the Disney Princess half marathon and have heard great things about the Run Disney series.
This week is the start of my training.  I will most likely do a modified Hal Higdon novice 2 or intermediate 1 program. 

Im currently on 4 indoor soccer teams so game days I may or may not run depending on how I feel.  

12 week plans I tend to struggle with the last month of sticking to because I get bored.  Hoping to do my best though! 

I also hate running on the treadmill.  It is getting cooler here in Texas so that is great! Getting a run in afyer work will be interesting since it is getting dark early.  I’m up for the challenge!

Transformation Tuesday

Yes.. we see these post all the time and I never thought I would do one but here I go…

Back in July I really started to focus on my eating and getting back into working out. This process has had many ups and downs and disappointment with my sprint triathlon  performance.

However, I trusted the process and put in work. Recently I have notived clothes fitting better and have started to have patient’s recognize my hard work.

I’ve been  doing this for me and I’m  feeling better from it. But, it is always rewarding when others see your hard work too!

I’m still not where I want to be but I am on my way! I want to start lifting more consistently and I start training for the half on Dec. 4!

This is a crazy wild ride but trust the journey!

13.1 Training Day 3

So I’m two days into my 13.1 training, day three is today! Finding time to log in the miles is the difficult part for me. Working full time teaching and then coming home and clocking into mommy duties! 

What I enjoy about the Train Like a Mother Finish It 13.1 program is that it gives you various options. For example today’s workout is Cross Train or Rest day. Also on the workout plan there are water bottle and coffee cup icons. The water bottle represents workouts that you “must do” in order for you to be successful in your training! I will say the runs have helped me get over the soreness of TreadFitness!

TreadFitness (CrossTread for a Cause)

Saturday we signed up for a  TreadFitness class where the donations went toward an awesome cause to stop bullying in schools! We must admit we were nervous Rachelle took this class years ago so she knew what to expect, but for me this was the first time. 


We were greeted with a smile by Brittany at the reception desk. She had us complete our paper work and make our donation, she then showed us around the gym and the equipment we would use, and introduced us to our instructor Dre. 

It was now go time! We had a small class so Dre was able to give us awesome feedback, corrections and motivation during the workout. You begin the workout on the treadmill with various intervals of jogging and sprinting and inclines. I’m not going to lie it was tough, but the great thing is you are able to set your own pace and still get the most out of the workout. We then hit the floor for weights, and arm, back and ab work.  We got back on the treadmills for more intervals and then back to work out legs.  I have been having issues with my knee and Dre was great at giving me modifications and still allowing me to have the TreadFitness experience! The music kept us motivated and the class upbeat! 


We will return and really wish there was a TreadFitness closer to where we live. If you want a workout that challenges you, is not just another gym workout and is fun please try TreadFitness! 

My half marathon training starts on Tuesday, hopefully I can add TreadFitness to my training! Now to football, laundry, lesson plans and my kiddos!

Day 10 of Thanks and Planks

Day 10 is a big ol thank you to the fitness community.

We appreciate the love and motivation we have recieved from all of you. 

We hope we have also encouraged you as well!

We recommend  plugging intona fitness community where you live. There are many freee class offered where you can try new things along with getting out to meet others in your community.

We are so excited for an event the Dallas fitness community is putting on this weekend.

I have been to a Tread fitness class once about 5 years ago and loved it. The gym is just far from where I live so I did not return.

Erica is a teacher so the cause is near and dear to her heart! 

We are excited!!! Look for a blog this weekend about how it went!

Counting My Blessings

As we do our Thanks and Planks Challenge for November I cannot help but reflect on all that I am thankful for! Waking up in the morning for work is something that we sometimes dread, but the fact that you are awake and going to a job is praise worthy! For living in a nation where we have a voice! Whether you like the candidates on the ticket or not you are able to CHOOSE! Some people don’t have that right!
As I think about my fitness journey from a young age there are so many people that shaped me to be the woman I am today and I am so grateful to each and every one of them! Today I want to say thank you to my high school track girls! High school can be a very tough time for some, fitting in, finding your voice and lots of homework can be stressful. 

I am thankful for those ladies and coaches who gave me so much strength, confidence and inspiration! Although I don’t see these ladies on a regular basis, through technology I am able keep in contact and see their families and share mine. To see the wonderful women they have become and the impact they make on their communities. 

I wanted to take the time to thank you ladies for inspiring me to continue my fitness journey through college and to pass it on to my trio!
