Just what I needed.

Well,my funk has continued. or maybe I should say I’ve allowed my funk to continue.

A little pitty party here a little pitty party there.

I know we have said it many times but living so far away from family is tough.

But…yesterday I get the following text..

I was so excited I couldn’t even spell pick right!

Long story short one of my friends from college was stuck in the DFW area so we got a chance to grab lunch and catch up!

I had no plans but to be in bed reading all day along with being down.

It was much needed to get me out of my funk from the past several weeks.

Thanks Andrea!!

It is always good to catch up with old friends!

Favorite Things Holiday Party

For the past 4 years I have thrown a Favorite Things Party with my friends! The idea is to have a gift exchange and time with my girls! Everyone is supposed to bring 5 (all the same) of what you consider your Favorite Thing, the price per gift cannot exceed $10.

Once the ladies arrive at the party, everyone puts their name in a bowl on 5 separate slips of paper. I always start and tell what my favorite thing is and where it can be found, I then pull 5 names out of the bowl to receive my Favorite Thing. This year I my Favorite Thing was a portable power-bank charger for your smartphone. Perfect for the girl on the go, from my favorite store Target! (It’s in the section by checkout so you can only get it in the store)

We had some many awesome gifts this year, some of which included a wine bottle cooler from Home Goods, awesome lipstick shades from various places, on the go drink tumblers and much more! I love getting together with my friends and it’s even better when gifts are involved!

Can’t wait until next year!

Day 15- Thanks & Planks

Today is day 15 of our Thanks and Planks November!

Today I give a special thanks for my health.

This is something many of us take for granted until we have an issue.

Working in the healthcare field I’ve learned to be more appreciative for what I do have and not take it for granted.

On a daily basis I have someone who wishes they could run again. While I know I’m blessed to have both my legs and minimal  pain there are days I don’t  want to run.

I try every day to truly appreciate my health .

Reflection..

6 years ago I was on vacation in Oregon getting ready to run my first half marathon.

Oregon was absolutely beautiful my friends Dad was an amazing type guide and took us all over.  We saw Mt. Hood, valcano fields, waterfalls,  the coast and Nike World Headquarters!
Running the Portland half marathon inspired me to start running more races.

I can’t  believe it has been 6 years into running half marathons. I was a sprinter in colllege and still not the biggest fan of distance running. I really run for the t-shirts and medals!

I’m  glad these ladies pushed me to sign up to run! Friends are truly so special.  Friends who are crazy enough to run marathons are even better! I’m only half crazy!

While we are miles apart we all continue to log our  miles.

I’m  ready to go back whenever!!!!

Friends…

Im so grateful to family, friends and coworkers who have been pushing me lately.

I’m  a little less than a month away from this sprint tri and my nerves are starting to get to me.

The one thing that has been consistant is the support from family, friends and coworkers.

Going to the pool after work to swim with me when they could easly go home to spend time with family.

The text and calls from friends and family holding me accountable for my workouts.  Even when it makes me a little bit irritated!

Thanks to everyone for the support and pushing me through to reach this goal of mine!

Surround yourself with people who push and support your goals and dreams this is vital to your success.

When life gets you down they will be there to pick you up!

Olympic life lessons

I love the Olympics! There is something about all these countries coming together with their best of the best to compete against each other.

While I love watching and cheering I’m amazed at the little life lessons that can be taken away from the Olympics.

Last night Simone Biles performed her individual beam routine. She almost fell of the 4″ beam but caught herself. While she did not take home another gold she still took home the bronze medal.

While life can be tough we must still celebrate the small victories. Many other gymnast would have fallen off the beam but she was able to catch herself.

What may have taken out others in this life  you have been through something and were able to “cath” yourself!!!!

History is being made throughout  these Olympics.

Simone Manuel made history becoming the first  African American female to win.

What blows my mind is 63 years ago a vegas hotel drained an antire pool because Dorothy Dandridge an African American actress  put he toe in it.

While, I am no way near being an Olympic caliber athlete I am inspired by so many of these athletes competing.

The refugee  team, the USA 800m runner who was flipping burgers at Mcdonalds and just ran in the Olympic finals. Just amazing!

What I do know is that you must keep going! Give your all and finish this “race” of life. Who knows who you might be inspiring!

Back 2 School

So today officially marks the end of the summer! It is the 1st day of school, which means a very early wake up call to get myself and the littles ready for the day.I am actually excited about being back on a regular schedule because things can get hectic during the summer months. I definitely have a routine for the morning which goes a little something like this…
4:45am Wake Up & drink a cup of water

5-5:30am Workout (it may be a run or a yoga sequence or a HIIT workout)

5:30-6am Get dressed grab something to eat and my cup of coffee

6-6:15am Put all my things and the littles in the car.

6:15-7 Dress the littles (this takes longer as we are potty training?

7:00am Leave for work!

I will admit and full workout doesn’t happen every morning, but I do at least try to get in a stretching sequence to get the blood flow going and that extra boost for the day!

We have the Hottest Half 10k on Sunday and the forecast is calling for rain! Which is great because that’s when Rachelle and I run best!

What is your morning routine?
